and Don'ts With Claims Adjusters
Expert: Mary Patton - Independent Adjusters
Free Sample Audio
When
it comes to insuring your alpacas, Mary Patton knows every angle. She has
been in the livestock insuring business since 1996 specializing in livestock
and bloodstock adjusting. She and her partner Michael Morris formed
Independent Adjusters, Inc in 2004. As a claims adjuster, she works
independently for the two major alpaca Insurance agencies – Wilkins
Livestock and Prairie States. She is responsible for gathering all the
pertinent information and starting a claim on behalf of the insured.
Mary and her office
have a very compassionate way about gathering the information needed to
start a claim. Most of us would not think of having a discussion with a
claims adjuster after the death of one of our precious alpacas. And yet that
is exactly what we could benefit the most by doing.
In this interview
we cover:
·
The importance of
completing the Insurance paperwork accurately
·
What to do if an alpaca
gets injured or sick – getting the vet involved
·
When to get a claims
adjuster involved
·
The steps to preparing a
claim
·
What not to do with a sick
alpaca that lives off of your farm
The facilitator’s
personal experience includes 2 successful insurance claims and one denial.
The aim of the interview is to share some wisdom in hopes of the listener
avoiding the pain, expense and disappointment of a denied claim. (You can
learn from my mistakes!)
