I finally had the opportunity to sit down and listen to your interviews. The interviews should be very helpful to those thinking of getting into the business and the people you chose to interview come across as very credible and professional. The interview with the accountant was helpful to me as well since we had dinner with prospective buyers that night and it reminded me of some helpful tips to give them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the interview. I think she did a great job with the overview of the tax incentives. I greatly appreciated the honesty and candor when Maureen said, "Typically, in the alpaca business, you don't make money for several years...." Too many people get into this business with high expectations of making money and don't have the forethought of how they will fill a niche or how they will be able to afford keeping a growing herd without any sales for an extended period of time. I also appreciated her saying that you have to have the "extra" investment money available or this may not be a good investment strategy. Yes, cover your basic financial/ investment needs first! And start with a business plan, separate checkbook, business license, etc. Great advice in a concise manner.
